  5. Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Association of
  6. Shareware Professionals (ASP).  We are a group of Shareware authors that
  7. are working to improve the image of Shareware as an alternative way of
  8. purchasing high quality software.
  9.  
  10. This package you have just unzipped contains several files to help you in 
  11. preparing your software and documentation for ASP membership. 
  12.  
  13. AUTPUB.TXT READ THIS FILE!!!  This is the full file that describes in detail 
  14.            what is expected of the ASP software and documentation.  One of 
  15.            the MOST important sections contains ASP's No Crippling policy.  
  16.            This is the sticking point on many applications.  We firmly 
  17.            believe that the potential registrant MUST be able to make an 
  18.            accurate "buy" decision based on the freely distributed Shareware 
  19.            disk. Some Shareware created a bad name for our industry by being 
  20.            highly crippled as a registration incentive.  If your Shareware 
  21.            does not meet the No Crippling policy you need to either make 
  22.            the necessary changes or withdraw your application.

  24. AUTPUB.FRM This is the Application Form itself. Fill this out completely
  25.            US Mail (on disk) this file to our Executive Director.

  27. AUTSTD.TXT A list of the ASP Author Requirements.

  29. SHAREW.PRN Your documentation should contain a description of the Shareware 
  30.            concept.  You may wish to include a warranty and you must include 
  31.            something that lets the registrant know what he/she will get for 
  32.            registering.  Paul Mayer developed the text in this file as an 
  33.            example of this type of text wording.  Feel free to include 
  34.            portions or all of this file in your documentation.

  36. REASONS.TXT A collection of messages from the ASP's open forum on CompuServe 
  37.            that give many good reasons to join the ASP. 
  38.  
  39. INCENTIV.TXT A collection of registration incentives to help you get 
  40.            registrations and still meet the ASP's no-crippling rules.
